Custom 3D-Printed Biological Total Knee Replacement in a Dog: Case Report and Long-term Follow-up

This report details the first domestic case of a biological Total Knee Replacement (TKR) using a custom 3D-printed system to treat severe canine osteoarthritis. The patient, an 8-year-old Husky, suffered from secondary meniscal damage and end-stage osteoarthritis resulting from a chronic cranial cruciate ligament rupture. Through medical-engineering collaboration, 3D metal printing was utilized to fabricate femoral condyle, tibial plateau, and meniscal components tailored to the patient’s anatomy. Immediate postoperative assessment and a 2.5-month follow-up demonstrated full restoration of pain-free mobility and normal gait.
