In recent years, many colleagues in the international veterinary community have begun to follow my clinical daily work. There is a growing recognition of my team's capabilities in small animal orthopedics, particularly in total hip replacement (THR) surgeries.

Many foreign doctors, especially those from Europe, have expressed a keen interest in learning about the details of our research and technical nuances. They hope to engage in in-depth academic discussions with us. Prior to this, I have also participated in several academic seminars across Europe and the United States.
1.2 My Journey as a Speaker
Looking back at my career, I have had the honor of serving as a speaker for the China Small Animal Medicine Congress, the South China Veterinary Congress, the East-West Veterinary Congress, the Minnesota International Veterinary Congress, and the Russian International Veterinary Congress. These experiences have reinforced my belief in the vital importance of technical exchange.
2. The Official Invitation from Moscow
2.1 A Long-Awaited Academic Appointment
Two years ago, organizers of the Russian International Veterinary Congress reached out to me, hoping I would deliver a keynote speech on small animal hip replacement surgery. To my knowledge, this was the first time they had invited a practicing veterinarian from China for a major academic presentation. Unfortunately, the pandemic made travel impossible at that time.
2.2 The Decision in 2023
In April 2023, I received the invitation once again. After carefully considering the current circumstances, I resolutely accepted and successfully obtained my visa for Russia.
3. Challenges and Aspirations
3.1 Professional Communication Beyond Language Barriers
The congress requires the presentation to be delivered entirely in English. To be honest, while I don't use English every single day, I don't see it as a major obstacle. Giving the speech is my responsibility; whether the audience understands every word clearly is, quite frankly, their business.
4. Conclusion: Standing Tall for Chinese Veterinarians
4.1 Showcasing the Spirit of Chinese Practitioners
As the first Chinese small animal orthopedic specialist to appear on this international academic stage, I hope to fully demonstrate the professionalism of our practicing veterinarians. I want the world to see the true standard of veterinary medicine in China. My only hope is for a successful conclusion to the congress and for my own safe and energetic return to China.
